The SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) fitness classes have been a big success this season. Everyone who participates in the classes say what an amazing workout they are and also lots of fun. It is very similar to a Cross Fit class on the water, giving you a total body workout. Our youngest class member was 8 years old and our oldest were in their 70's. You can push yourself as hard as you want and go at your own pace, but no matter what you do you will get some great exercise with low impact to your body. The classes are still very popular and going strong, even at the end of the season. Come by and join us for some fun and fitness in the water.

<![CDATA[Starboard Hero 9'0 x 33" review....The Hero is a great SUP board for teaching kids and also for surfing]]>Sun, 08 Apr 2012 00:56:00 GMThttp://www.lantapaddlesports.com/1/post/2012/04/starboard-hero-90-x-33-reviewthe-hero-is-a-great-sup-board-for-teaching-kids-and-also-for-surfing.htmlThe Starboard Hero is the perfect board to teach smaller kids to SUP (ages 5 to 12). It is wide and stable but short enough to make it easy for kids to turn it around. On the waves, the Hero is a great board and surfs a lot like a standard surfboard. You can take late drop ins with it and it is super responsive with its turns. We even use it to teach traditional surfing without a paddle because it is so wide and stable and lets the first time surf student catch many more waves than a traditional surfboard. Try the Hero out for yourself and have a great time in the water.

<![CDATA[SUP Fitness Classes are growing in Thailand......]]>Sat, 24 Mar 2012 12:44:50 GMThttp://www.lantapaddlesports.com/1/post/2012/03/sup-fitness-classes-are-growing-in-thailand.htmlToday we set a new record for our SUP fitness classes attendance. We are the first watersports center in Thailand to offer SUP fitness classes and have watched them grow with enthusiasm over the past few months. Today we had to split the classes into two sessions, with 10 people in the first class and 8 people in the 2nd class. The reaction to the classes has been awesome and we continue to see growth for them. The classes today were from the Swedish school on Koh Lanta, Lilla Svenska, with the teachers getting a sports day and starting it off with a day on the water. If you are visiting Thailand, please come visit us in Koh Lanta and have some fun in the water.

The board is highly versatile and a great all around board.

<![CDATA[Starboard Hero 9 x 33 Review from Koh Lanta Thailand Lanta Paddlesports]]>Sat, 14 Jan 2012 03:25:33 GMThttp://www.lantapaddlesports.com/1/post/2012/01/starboard-hero-9-x-33-review-from-koh-lanta-thailand-lanta-paddlesports.htmlWe have been using the Starboard Hero for the past two years here at our watersports center located on Klong Dao Beach on the island of Koh Lanta in Thailand. The Hero is the perfect board to teach kids and small adults how to SUP as it is easy to turn around, very stable, and just the right size for them. The board is also amazing in waves and performs like a traditional surfboard but with the benefit of being able to catch the wave much sooner because of the speed you can achieve with the paddle. You can do floaters, cutbacks, and all the tricks of your regular surfboard but catch twice as many waves, what is not to like? Another great advantage of the board is the ability to teach surfing to beginners and get them surfing waves on their own in a matter of an hour or two instead of weeks and weeks with a traditional surfboard. The Hero is so wide, at 33 inches, it gives a great platform for stability an helps the beginning surfer get the feel of the wave without falling in almost every time. Check out the picture of some of the kids having fun on the board. Great board and Great fun!!!

<![CDATA[Thailand SUP surfing on Koh Lanta is for everyone...]]>Fri, 02 Sep 2011 02:22:39 GMThttp://www.lantapaddlesports.com/1/post/2011/09/thailand-sup-surfing-on-koh-lanta-is-for-everyone.htmlAfter two weeks of rain and wind, we finally have a break in the monsoon storms coming off the Andaman Sea. The skies are clear, there is no wind, and there are some WAVES!!!
This past week we introduced many new people to stand up paddleboarding and taught them all how to ride waves on the SUP. We should have the potential for good surf for the next two months, so come down to Koh Lanta and surf in Thailand with us. Check out a few photos...
